Bayswater Shutdown Project – Muswellbrook (NSW)
A heartfelt congratulations to the exceptional team involved who played a pivotal role in the Bayswater Power Station shutdown which commenced in mid-October and has now concluded. The shutdown took over an impressive 7 weeks and approximately 15 skilled staff.
Our dedicated staff at ARC demonstrated versatility and proficiency, tackling a range of tasks including mechanical fittings, valve replacements, inspections, waste disposal, and stringent quality assurance and control measures.
A heartfelt appreciation goes out to all members of the client team for their invaluable contributions. Thankyou for making the project a smooth process to ensure that the shutdown project was successful over the course of 7 weeks and we look forward to any further collaborations in the future.
A special thank you to all the candidates and staff from our client’s team who contributed their expertise to make this massive project a success
Employee Referral Bonus Program
Australian Recruitment Company (ARC Staff) is introducing an Employee Referral Bonus Program, where we will reward any current worker who referred another successful candidate, with a bonus! To be eligible for the reward, you must be a current active employee and refer a friend/family member, of whom we choose to onboard.
If you know someone who you think would be a perfect fit for a position at our company, feel free to refer them to us. We take pride in providing our clients with the best possible candidates as possible, and often a referral by friend or family is a great way to assist them in finding work! Generally, we encourage you to check our open positions and consider your social networks and external networks as potential resources for referred candidates.
The Reward
If we hire your referred candidate, you are eligible for a monthly bonus. The bonus to you at the end of each month will be paid in gift cards. The conditions are that the referred mate cannot be late for any shifts, cancel a shift after job allocation, or be a no show. The referred mate must work a minimum of 120 hours within the current month and be available for a minimum number of shifts.
- For example, if your referred mate works 120 hours in the given month, you will be rewarded with a $50 gift voucher!
- However, if a no show occurred during that month, or the candidate was late or does not meet our minimum requirements, the bonus will not be applicable to you.
We will partake in our usual interviewing/screening procedures prior to employment; therefore, no hard feelings in the event the candidate is not suitable and is unsuccessful.
This bonus will be in effect until the 30/06/2024, provided you are still working for us. If one of our clients offers you fulltime work, your bonus payment will still be paid monthly.
Additional Information
- There is no cap on the number of referrals an employee can make. All rewards will be paid accordingly.
- If your mate is referred for permanent placement, we will offer a finder’s fee
- If two or more employees refer to the same candidate, only the first referrer will receive their referral rewards.
- Referrers are still eligible for rewards even if a candidate is hired at a later time or gets hired for another position.
- Referred candidate must work for a minimum of two months before referrer is eligible for bonus
- We may change our referral bonus program over time to add more interesting incentives.
- We also reserve the right to abolish certain rewards if they prove ineffective or inefficient.
- We’ll communicate any changes clearly and timely. Employees who referred candidates before a reward was abolished will still receive the appropriate reward.
- We’d like to remind our employees that we are an equal opportunity employer and do not discriminate against protected characteristics. Our referred candidates may take precedence in the hiring process. We guarantee that all candidates will be given the same consideration and will pass through our established procedures
Who can participate in our employee referral program?
All employees working for ARC Staff are eligible to participate in our referral program except for:
- Senior management (CEO, Managing Director)
- Recruiters and hiring managers for positions for which they are hiring.
Note: Hiring managers cannot refer anyone for a position for which they are directly or indirectly responsible. However, they can refer someone for a position that is in a different department, office or function. This exception does not apply to Executives and Senior Management.
Who can be referred?
We have two conditions for candidates who can qualify you for our rewards. They should:
- Have not applied to our company for at least a year.
- Be hired as a casual or permanent employee
Manual Handling/Lifting
To avoid short & long lasting injuries which can be caused by incorrect lifting in the workplace, below are simple procedures that can be followed to minimise the risk of such injures.
Correct Lifting Techniques:
- Use mechanical lifting equipment where possible or necessary
- Plan the lift by estimating the relevant load and knowing where exactly it is to be placed
- Ensure that access to the desired area is clear
- Avoid lifting excessively heavy loads by yourself – ASK FOR ASSISTANCE
- Avoid bending your back to pick up a load – bend your knees & keep your back straight
- Avoid twisting whilst lifting & carrying
- Take optimal care to avoid the likelihood of slips, trips and falls
- Overall physical fitness and a gradual build up to higher work levels/heavier loads help to avoid back strains and injuries
Note: when lifting correctly, the lower back is supporting three times the weight lifted, however, when lifting incorrectly, it supports fifteen times the weight lifted.
COVID-19 SAFETY PRECAUTIONS
COVID-19 – Face coverings, Social Distancing, Proper hygiene
Wearing a face covering helps keep you and others safe. Face coverings are an additional protective physical barrier to protect you and those around you. The best way to protect other people against COVID-19 is by keeping 1.5 metres apart from others, washing your hands regularly, and coughing/sneezing into your elbow or a tissue.
When in the workplace. please use hand sanitiser wherever possible, refrain from touching your face, minimise contact with others and maintain as much distance as possible. If you feel unwell or have any flu like symptoms, please advise the ARC STAFF office immediately on 03 9043 2237 or 0457 313 006 and stay home.
WORKPLACE SAFETY
WAREHOUSE SAFETY HAZARDS – WHAT THEY ARE, WHAT TO DO & HOW TO AVOID
Forklifts:
Forklifts are critical pieces of equipment used in warehousing and storage facilities. However, when operated incorrectly can cause serious damage to operators, nearby workers and property
- Make sure the load is balanced and fully secure to prevent a forklift from tipping over.
- Ensure both forks are as far under the load as possible before lifting.
- Drive with the load as low as safely possible.
- Pay attention to posted speed limits and warning signs.
- Do not operate a forklift if you are not licenced to do so.
- Make sure you check your surroundings for hazards (including pedestrians)
Docks:
One of the worst accidents a worker could suffer when working in a warehouse is being pinned or crushed between a forklift truck and the loading dock. This typically occurs when a forklift runs off the dock and strikes a person. Follow the tips below to ensure the safety of workers:
- Forklift operators must be attentive and drive slowly on dock plates, make sure dock edges are clear and safe to support loads.
- Always ensure that warning signs and mechanisms are in place to prevent people from getting near docks
Materials storage:
Improper stacking of loads and storage of materials on shelves can result in unintended slip and trip hazards for nearby workers.
- Keep aisles and passageways clear and in good condition, this prevents workers from slipping, tripping, or falling.
- Loads should be placed evenly and properly positioned, heavier loads must be stacked on lower or middle shelves. Always remember to remove one load at a time.
Manual lifting/handling:
The most common cause of physical injuries in warehouse and storage facilities involves improper manual lifting and handling. Failure to follow proper procedures can cause musculoskeletal disorders, especially if done with awkward postures, repetitive motions, or overexertion. Bend from the knees, engage your core, and always look for manual handling lifting aids such as trolleys etc, we encourage “buddy lifting” to lighten the loads
DRUG & ALCOHOL IN THE WORKPLACE
Please remember that it is an ARC STAFF policy that no worker is to be onsite under the influence of drugs or alcohol. This is reinforced by our clients and many have drug testing policies in place. Please do not jeopardise your job or the safety of you and your colleagues by being at work under the influence of drugs and/or alcohol.
FATIGUE IN THE WORKPLACE
In a work context, fatigue is mental and/or physical exhaustion that reduces your ability to perform your work safely and effectively.
Signs of fatigue include:
- tiredness even after sleep
- reduced hand-eye coordination or slow reflexes
- short term memory problems and an inability to concentrate
- blurred vision or impaired visual perception
Work causes of fatigue might include:
- prolonged or intense mental or physical activity
- sleep loss and/or disruption of your internal body clock
- organisational change
- work scheduling
- excessively long shifts
- strenuous jobs
There are different ways workers can make sure they’re not at risk of fatigue in the workplace. To reduce the risk of being involved in a work incident caused by fatigue, you should:
- Comply with our and your host employers policies and procedures relating to fatigue.
- Understand your sleep, rest and recovery needs and get adequate rest and sleep away from work.
- Seek medical advice and help if you have or are concerned about a health condition that affects your sleep and/or causes fatigue.
- Assess your own fitness for work before starting.
- Monitor your level of alertness and concentration while you’re at work.
- Look out for signs of fatigue in the people you work with.
- In consultation with your supervisor, take appropriate steps to manage fatigue. For example, take a break, drink water, do some stretching or physical exercise, adjust the work environment (for example lighting and/or temperature).
- Talk to your supervisor if you think you’re at risk of fatigue.
- Assess your fatigue levels after work and make sensible commuting and accommodation decisions (for example avoid driving if you are feeling fatigued)
PPE (PERSONAL PROTECTIVE EQUIPMENT)
Some workplaces do not insist on wearing PPE. Please note that regardless of the site policy, anyone working for ARC STAFF is required to wear steel capped safety boots and high vis vest/shirt/top whenever carrying out a shift that we have rostered you for.
This is to help maintain your safety in the workplace.
We encourage minimal jewellery when working and ensure that long hair is tied back for safety reasons.
Other PPE such as hard hats, gloves, protective eye wear and hearing protection may be required, in these COVID times we strongly suggest you keep a track of your own PPE.
VICTORIAN COVID RESTRICTIONS

- Practice good hand hygiene
- Practice social distancing
- Wear a fitted face mask when in public indoor environments & on public transport
